Further, I have started to embrace myself as a gay man (man who loves men ) and have started explore what that means to me Spiritually. My recent discoveries of love from a Spiritual, physical, and emotional perspective have started me on a path to self-acceptance, self-love, and higher self-esteem. Their constant taunting gave me an innate shame about my naked body and I have carried that into my adult life.

My father and my uncles would endlessly compare me to the athletic boys and try to вЂњshameвЂќ me into losing weight. You see, I was a very chubby kid and continued to be so into adulthood, topping out at 405 pounds (though I have now lost a considerable amount of weight and currently weigh 215 pounds). Second, my father and my uncles always compared me to other boys when I was growing up. First, I was taught that nakedness was вЂњagainst GodвЂќ and that we should show shame and humility and always make sure we were completely covered (in fact, I didnвЂ™t even go without a shirt in publicВ until my late thirties). I was especially taught that my naked body was something to be ashamed of from many perspectives. You see, growing up surrounded by very closed minded people (at no fault of their own), I was taught that sex and nudity were вЂњbadвЂќ. However, I hit a slight snag when I tried to apply this heightened ability to love to myself. As I began to discover this belief, I began to realize that it was true within myself and as such I began to realize that I could embrace this ability to love from a Spiritual perspective and grow in Spirit. Many believe that we as gay men or men who love men (since gay is a relatively modern term), have a heightened innate ability to love. They were considered to be walking two paths simultaneously in the physical world and therefore they were thought to be able to вЂњwalk between the worldsвЂќ in the Spiritual sense as well. They were seen as having a balance of both male and female spirit within themselves. In fact, many of my ancestors (men who love men) were the Shamans, Healers, and Medicine Men of many North American tribes.

As I have been walking through this Spiritual Journey I have been reading some interesting Spiritual texts and some historical texts that reveal my people (homosexuals) as being revered in some cultures, tribes, and communities as being innately Spiritual. I have been drawn, as of late, to explore my Spiritual life as it directly relates to my homosexuality.ДЄs a young manВ growing up in the rural South I always lived in fear of my sexuality and as a result, I repressed it and tried to hide it as much as possible.

The results have been somewhat shocking, even to me. Recently, I have been building on the lessons I have learned throughout my life and the things that I feel have been revealed to me of late. As I have come to understand, the Spiritual Journey is indeed вЂњAll About The JourneyвЂќ.
